Exchange course in Economics (Fall semester)

An exchange course consists of 30 ECTS, and must include 1 project module. 

In the fall semester you must choose the modules below, to achieve the required 30 ECTS. 

 

Project module [5 ECTS]

• Project Work based on Empirical Data (5th semester)

Course modules

• Mathematics for Economists I (1st semester, 5 ECTS) 
• Statistics for Economists (3rd semester, 10 ECTS)
• Econometrics II (5th semester, 10 ECTS)

Exchange course in Economics (Spring  semester)

An exchange course consists of 30 ECTS, and must include 1 project module and 2 or 3 course modules corresponding to 30 ECTS all together.

• *Macroeconomic Project (4th semester, 10 ECTS)
• *BSc Project (6th semester, 20 ECTS)

Course modules

Choose between:

• Mathematics for Economists II (2nd semester, 10 ECTS)
• Econometrics I (4th semester, 10 ECTS)
• Financial Markets (6th semester, 10 ECTS)*

*This module will not be offered in case there are too few students registered. In that case, the students will be offered other options if possible.

 

 

*Course descriptions

Project module: Macroeconomic Project,  (4th semester, 10 ECTS)

The aim of the macroeconomic project is to provide students with the opportunity to analyze a specific socio-economic issue of their choice, based on the macroeconomic theoretical understanding acquired in the Macroeconomics IV module.

Project work on a socio-economic issue is related to the Danish economy and grounded in macroeconomic theory and relevant empirical data

Learning objectives

KNOWLEDGE

The aim is that after the module the student has knowledge of:

• how to identify, formulate, and delimit a socio-economic issue in a macroeconomic context.
• how to define and reflect on the method used in the project.

SKILLS

The aim is that after the module the student has skills to:

• be able to conduct an analysis of the project’s issue based on relevant economic literature and data material. 
• find, compile/process, and present relevant data series for the most important macro variables.
•  evaluate the results of the project work and discuss possible implications thereof.

COMPETENCIES

The aim is that after the module the student has the competencies to:

• prepare a written presentation of the project’s problem statement, method, analysis, and conclusions in a scientifically clear and correct language.

 

Project module: BSc Project (6th semester, 20 ECTS)

The purpose of the bachelor's project is for the student to document competencies in applying economic theories and methods while working on a specific academic topic. The topic for the bachelor's project is chosen by the student and approved by the study board.

The aim is that after the module the student has knowledge of:

• how to identify, formulate, and delimit a relevant economic issue.

SKILLS

The aim is that after the module the student has skills to:

• planning and conducting an analysis using relevant concepts, theories, methods, and data.
• critically assessing the theoretical, methodological, and empirical basis of the analysis.
• evaluating the results and discussing possible implications.
• developing a learning portfolio based on experiences from the entire bachelor's program.

COMPETENCIES

The aim is that after the module the student has the competencies to:

• planning and conducting projects that address key economic issues, from the idea phase to the implementation of proposed solutions.
• identifying their own learning needs and structuring their learning in different learning environments
• theoretically and practically analyzing a relevant economic issue and using this knowledge to make well-founded scientific and practical decisions related to the issue, both independently and in teams.

The Economics bachelor level exchange course semester is open to all bachelor students with relevant academic backgrounds. You should meet the following entrance qualifications to be accepted as a student on the Economics bachelors level exchange course:

• You must be proficient in English orally and in writing, as the major part of the lectures and workshops are based on dialogue in class and due to the fact that written assignments will be in English as well.
