Separate module at Master´s level
Introduction to Wind Power (Generation and Integration)
Facts
The module covers the electrical aspects of wind power systems including the electrical machines, power electronics and the connection to the power grid. The focus is on regulating electricity grids with a high proportion of wind turbine-generated electricity and the module is based on the latest research in the area.
An overview of the electrical systems found in wind power generation is created. The design and configuration of the power electronics related to its regulation are also discussed.
The focus is also on parameter estimation, monitoring and diagnostics of the systems in offshore wind farms.

Course structure
The module is affiliated with the section for 'electrical systems and microgrids' at Aalborg University, Department of Energy, and will be offered by world-leading researchers and teachers in the field. For decades, the institute has worked closely with companies within the wind turbine and solar cell industries, but also other industries such as electrolysis, power-2-x and fuel cell systems.
The module is offered in English.
The module is assessed by internal oral examination.
