- 13 September 2024
The objective of the course is to provide knowledge, skills and competences in analysis and design of laminated composite structures such as wind turbine blades. The module consists both of lectures with knowledge and theory within the field as well as a series of exercises that can be adapted to the participants, which provide skills and competences in analysis and design of laminated composite structures.
The module is aimed at engineers who need to be upskilled in structural analysis and design of composite structures, so that you gain skills to develop light, rigid and strong structures. The focus is on fibre-reinforced polymeric materials used for laminated composite structures such as wind turbine blades. The module provides in-depth knowledge of the choice of material, the manufacturing of composite structures and especially the analysis tools required by the directional stiffness and strength properties of these materials. The module will provide skills to apply a number of analytical and numerical methods for structural analysis of composite laminates, both in terms of predicting stiffness and strength. The numerical methods focus on classical laminate analysis and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using commercial programs.
