Study and work permit
If you are a non-EU/EEA student, you must have obtained study and work permit prior to travelling to Denmark. A study and work permit allows you to reside and study in Denmark during your studies. Furthermore the permit allows you to work up to 20 hours per week during the normal period of study from September to May and full time in June, July and August.
The study and work permit is connected to the specific programme, to which you are admitted. This means, that if you change programme, you will need to apply for a new study and work permit.
The portal www.lifeindenmark.dk provides you with information, links and in many cases also options concerning the most important subjects when living in Denmark.
INTERSHIP DURING YOUR STUDIES
Please note that the study and work permit does cover an internship when you are a student at AAU. If you are doing an internship during your studies, you must apply for a specific work permit before you start your internship. Please read more on this website: www.nyidanmark.dk/en-GB/You-want-to-apply/Study/Study-internship.
When you receive the offer of admission, you will also receive a separate message requesting you to pay tuition fee for your first semester. Once we have received the first tuition fee payment from you and you are fully admitted, the Admissions Office will fill in the first part of a ST1 form, which you need when applying for a study and work permit.
Once the Admissions Office has filled in the first part of the ST1 form, you will receive a message in the Application Portal with the login information you need to complete the application to the Danish Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI). In this message, you find a link that directs you to part 2 of the ST1 form, where you use the login information stated in the message. Please note that we engourage you to fill out the application as soon as you receive the login information. It is also very important that you upload the correct documentation (see required documentation below).
When you sign in to SIRI’s website, you must sign your part of the application using NemID or a scanned signature. If you choose to sign the application with a scanned signature, you must open the ‘Sworn declaration’. You sign this by hand, scan it and attach it to the online application.
