In the summer of 2022, Grants & Contracts and Information Security already prepared an assessment of TikTok that recommended AAU not use TikTok for marketing or anything else.
- Based on this recommendation, I decided that Aalborg University should not use TikTok on our PCs or phones that are paid for by AAU, Søren Lind Christiansen says.
It has also recently been decided to draw up a more comprehensive list of recommendations on software that may pose a security risk. With the recent intensified debate about the risks of using TikTok and a number of other universities announcing bans, the director would like to announce TikTok right now.
AAU has a number of instructions on the use of digital equipment in the Handbook in "Rules on Personal Use of Aalborg University's Digital Work Tools".
Søren Lind encourages staff and students to help ensure that sensitive personal information and AAU data do not end up in the wrong hands:
- We cannot ensure that all AAU devices are shielded against misuse with technical measures alone, so creating awareness with information for staff and students, so that staff and students delete unsafe apps of their own accord, is an important tool.
ITS says that an expanded list of unwanted software will be ready during the spring.
