Companies and students matched at the Student job fair

Published online: 01.10.2023

On 28 September, CREATE was the setting for Aalborg University's annual Student job fair for the first time. As many as 26 companies showed up with current student jobs for the 450 participating students.

The foyer of CREATE was buzzing with talk and a good vibe, and companies left the Student job fair smiling after many good dialogues with hopefully their future student employees. The companies were delighted to meet students who were goal-oriented, able to reflect and good at asking about specific positions and tasks.

One of the companies in attendance was GoTutor (a part of Egmont) that is looking for students for homework assistance for pupils in primary and secondary school – online or in person.

"The reason we’re here at the Student job fair today is that we’re really pleased with the students we’ve received from Aalborg University over the years," says Ruben Samuel Sørensen, GoTutor.

In our experience, not only are they extremely professional, they are really good at communicating and they are motivated as homework assistants.

Ruben Samuel Sørensen explains that GoTutor sees that students are busy and bombarded with messages, and so it valuable for GoTutor to have the opportunity to participate in a dedicated event like the Student Job Fair that facilitates a good, down-to-earth dialogue with the students.

This is the second time GoTutor is taking part in the Student Job Fair – they also joined last year and had a really good experience:

"We already had a really good indication of the level of talent and the many capable young people at Aalborg University."

They then hired 18 talented AAU students, and Ruben believes that the visibility at the Student job fair was a decisive factor in the many applications. After tonight's fair, Ruben is optimistic and hopes for the same experience as last year.

Focus on getting students into student jobs

The Student job fair is part of a larger focus on getting AAU students into student jobs. Studies show that more students who have a student job get a job faster after graduation.

The activities aimed at students include student job search courses, student job fairs on both the Aalborg and Copenhagen campuses as well as general information about AAU Jobbank where companies are encouraged to post both job ads and company profiles.
